The String Theory

Last night, on New Years Eve, while doing some research for a game project I happened across the String Theory. While I had heard of it before I never actually understood what it was about. The following Brian Greene video explains the theory in perfect non-technical terms. Watch this:

Amazing theories presented here.

The first question that pops into my mind is this: What exactly causes the vibration in the string energy? If we could answer that then would, in theory, have complete control over the universe. If we could replicate the "vibration" source - much like the way that we vibrate food in a microwave then we could in theory make anything. You could control light, time, gravity. Of course, that would have catastrophic consequences to the world economy. If you could make gold or oil on a whim then money would become worthless. Life constantly seems to blindside us with radical changes that we can't forsee coming. The future, if these many of the questions in the theory are answered will be absolutley nothing like we ever imagined. For better or worse.

So what does this have to do with Alien Axiom? It's plausible that if these extra dimension exist that aliens would have knowledge and possibly use of them. Imagine if - the aliens are actually here now with us, watching from these other dimensions. Imagine that there is no such thing as privacy. Even in your own home because of the possibility of nearby resident beings in a dimension that you cannot perceive yet it is possible for them able to perceive you.

Many of these ideas present dangers to us in the years ahead. Some think that as we progress technologically and potentially present threats to other beings in the galaxy that we may in fact come under fire. For example, putting weapons in space could provoke a galactic attack from an unknown foe. Likewise so learning of these other dimensions could provide insight into that which we were not meant to see, also provoking an attack.

As CERN proceeds with its experiments truths about String theory will be validated or cancelled. We'll have to see over the next few years. Hopefully we're not knocking on the door of a sleeping giant.
